Butterfield shares fall 1.6%

A fall in the value of Butterfield Bank shares sparked a dip of more than 1 per cent in The Royal Gazette/BSX Index today.
Butterfield fell 51 cents, or 1.6 per cent, to close on $32 as 4,800 shares changed hands. The bank’s New York Stock Exchange-listed shares moved in the opposite direction, gaining 32 cents, or nearly 1 per cent, to close on $33.
Butterfield was the only local stock to trade on a day when trading turnover totalled $153,600.
The Royal Gazette/BSX Index fell 22.94 points, or 1.2 per cent, to close on 1,960.02. The BSX Insurance Index closed down 11.76 points, or 0.6 per cent, at 1,872.4.
