Shares of Ascendant and Butterfield rise

Shares of Ascendant Group and Butterfield Bank each hit new 52-week highs in Bermuda Stock Exchange trading.
Ascendant, parent of power utility Belco, jumped 50 cents, or 5.7 per cent, to close on $9.25, as 15,500 shares changed hands.
Butterfield edged 10 cents, or 0.3 per cent higher, to close on $35.60 as 11,523 shares traded.
The bank’s New York Stock Exchange-listed shares gained 98 cents, or 2.8 per cent, to close on $36.41.
The Royal Gazette/BSX Index climbed 9.32 points, or 0.44 per cent, to close the day on 2,116.6.
The BSX Insurance Index also had a good day, gaining 12.69 points, or 0.7 per cent, to close on 1,839.83.
