Shares of Butterfield Bank fell by $1, or 2.7 per cent, to $36.50 after 100 traded on The Royal Gazette/BSX Index.

However, the bank’s shares were up 72 cents, or 1.96 per cent, on the New York Stock Exchange.

On the local exchange, a total of 5,000 shares of BF&M Ltd were exchanged, but with no affect on the closing price of $17.

The Royal Gazette/BSX Index was down 44.98 points, or 2.04 per cent, at 2,154.5.

The BSX Insurance Index was up 12.13 points, or 0.68 per cent, at 1,806.41.
