Shares of Ascendant Group, the parent company of Belco, rose 49 cents, or 5.2 per cent, to $10 after 9,762 traded on The Royal Gazette/BSX Index.

Also improving was Argus Group, with a 20 cent rise, or 5.3 per cent to $3.97 after 46,266 changed hands.

A total of 4,002 shares of Somers Limited were traded, but with no change to the closing price of $14.25.

On the New York Stock Exchange, shares of Butterfield Bank were down 23 cents, or 0.57 per cent, at $40.23.

The Royal Gazette/BSX Index was up 8.72 points, or 0.38 per cent, at 2,315.47. Meanwhile, the BSX Insurance Index fell 0.97 points, or 0.05 per cent, at 1,907.07.
