Shares of Butterfield Bank improved by 20 cents, or 0.5 per cent, to $44 after 1,100 traded on The Royal Gazette/BSX Index.

Nine thousand shares of Ascendant Group were exchanged, but with no impact on the closing price of $10.

The Royal Gazette/BSX Index was up nine points, or 0.36 per cent, at 2,494.43.

The BSX Insurance Index was up 7.55 points, or 0.4 per cent, at 1,902.3.
