Shares of Butterfield Bank improved by 40 cents, or 0.9 per cent, to $47.25 after 800 were traded on The Royal Gazette/BSX index. On the New York Stock Exchange, the bank’s shares were down 17 cents, or 0.35 per cent, at $47.75.

The Royal Gazette/BSX Index was up 17.99 points, or 0.67 per cent, at 2,702.39.

The BSX Insurance Index fell 16.15 points, or 0.88 per cent, to 1,811.41.
