Ascendant and Butterfield rise on BSX

Two companies advanced and two lost ground in BSX trading

Shares of Ascendant Group Ltd and Butterfield Bank rose in Bermuda Stock Exchange trading.

Ascendant, which owns power utility Belco, gained 5 cents, or 0.3 per cent, to close on $15.85, as 10,000 shares traded.

Butterfield climbed 50 cents, or 1.1 per cent, to reach $47.50 on the trading of 1,944 shares. The bank’s US-listed shares rose 84 cents, or 1.8 per cent, to close at $48.34 in New York.

Insurers Argus Group Holdings Ltd and BF&M Ltd both lost ground.

Argus fell 9 cents, or 2.3 per cent, to close on $3.90 as 10,000 shares changed hands, while BF&M dipped 79 cents, or 4.4 per cent, to $17.21 on the trading of 400 shares.

The Royal Gazette/BSX Index rose 15.12 points, or 0.56 per cent, to end the day at 2,723.61.
