Shares of Butterfield Bank rose $1, or 2 per cent, to $51 after 2,750 traded on The Royal Gazette/BSX Index.

In New York, shares of Butterfield were up 10 cents, or 0.19 per cent, at $51.43.

Meanwhile, on the local exchange shares of One Communications Ltd fell by 15 cents, or 4.8 per cent, to $3 after 12,000 changed hands. In separate news, One Communications reported that it repurchased 22,288 of its common shares at an average price of $2.95 for immediate cancellation last month.

The Royal Gazette/BSX Index was up 42.92 points, or 1.52 per cent, at 2,868.47. The BSX Insurance Index was down 80.32 points, or 4.79 per cent at 1,595.12.
