Butterfield Bank shares improved 50 cents, or 1.6 per cent, to $31.50 after 3,856 were traded on The Royal Gazette/BSX Index. In New York, the bank’s shares were up $1.16, or 3.73 per cent, at $32.28.

On the local exchange, a total of 6,000 shares of Ascendant Group were exchanged, but with no change to the closing price of $16.75.

The Royal Gazette/BSX Index was up 22.49 points, or 1.15 per cent, at 1,980.41, while the BSX Insurance Index was up 35.83 points, or 2.47 per cent, at 1,487.6.
