Butterfield Bank shares improved by $1, or 3.1 per cent, to $33 after 751 traded on The Royal Gazette/BSX Index.

In New York, the bank’s shares were up 46 cents, or 1.4 per cent, at $33.43.

On the local exchange there was trading of 4,658 shares of Ascendant Group Limited, but with no change to the closing price of $16.75.

The Royal Gazette/BSX Index was up 44.98 points, or 2.25 per cent, at 2,047.87, while the BSX Insurance Index was up 13.16 points, or 0.98 per cent, at 1,486.4
