Ascendant Group Ltd shares worth more than $145,000 changed hands on the Bermuda Stock Exchange.

The parent company of power utility Belco closed unchanged on $16.75 as 8,682 shares changed hands.

The Royal Gazette/BSX Index closed unchanged on 2,047.87 for the day and up 3.29 per cent for the week, driven by a 4.8 per cent rise in Butterfield Bank’s share price to $33 over the five trading days.

Butterfield’s US-listed shares fell 32 cents, or 0.96 per cent on the New York Stock Exchange for the day.

The BSX Insurance Index fell 2.86 points, or 0.19 per cent, to close on 1,499.2.
