Shares of Polaris Holding Co Ltd jumped $1.50, or 23.1 per cent, to $8 after 500 traded on The Royal Gazette/BSX Index.

Butterfield Bank reported first quarter profit of $51.7 million, and an agreement to buy a banking business in the channel Islands in a $208 million cash deal. Its shares improved $1.75, or 4.8 per cent, to $38.50 after 18,150 changed hands. Meanwhile, on the New York Stock Exchange, the bank’s shares were up $1.97, or 5.28 per cent, at $39.28.

The Royal Gazette/BSX Index was up 80.47 points, or 3.59 per cent, to 2,322.64, while the BSX Insurance Index was up 4.23 points, or 0.28 per cent, at 1,523.48.
