Shares of Butterfield Bank plunged $2.60, or 8.7 per cent, to $27.40 after 3,090 traded on The Royal Gazette/BSX Index.

In New York, the bank’s shares were down 16 cents, or 0.57 per cent, at $28.15.

On the local exchange BF&M Ltd shares were up 20 cents, or 1.2 per cent, at $17.25, while there was trading in 7,200 shares of One Communications Ltd, but with no change to the closing price of $3.75.

The Royal Gazette/BSX Index was down 115.4 points, or 5.63 per cent, at 1,932.66. The BSX Insurance Index was up 21.91 points, or 1.31 per cent, at 1,689.11.
