US-listed shares of Butterfield Bank fell $1.48, or 5 per cent, amid a broad market sell-off. Butterfield closed at $28.16 on the New York Stock Exchange.

The bank last traded at $29.85 on the BSX.

The BSX Insurance Index fell 22.64 points, or 1.27 per cent, to close on 1,755.09.
