Ascendant shares improve 8.6%

The Royal Gazette/BSX Index climbed 19.91 points, or 0.84 per cent to 2,404.48 yesterday, the last trading day of 2019.

Shares of Ascendant Group Limited, the parent of Belco, improved by $2.50, or 8.6 per cent, to $31.50 after 1,400 traded.

There was a 21 cents fall, or 6.8 per cent, to $2.90 for Argus Group Holdings Ltd, after 40,000 shares changed hands.

Meanwhile, in New York, shares of Butterfield Bank closed on Tuesday down four cents, or 0.11 per cent, at $37.02.

The BSX Insurance Index was up 1.96 points, or 0.11 per cent, at 1,736.78 on Tuesday.

The Bermuda Stock Exchange was closed today for the New Year’s Day holiday.
