BF&M gains for second successive day on BSX

Bank boost: Butterfield shares rose for a third successive trading day on the BSX

Shares of BF&M Ltd rose 1.3 per cent on strong volume on the Bermuda Stock Exchange.

The insurer added to its 10.2 per cent climb in Wednesday’s trading by gaining another 26 cents yesterday, to close on $20.50, as 17,948 shares changed hands.

Butterfield Bank dipped 51 cents, or 1.5 per cent to close on $33.30 as 5,034 shares were traded. The bank’s US-listed shares moved in the opposite direction in New York Stock Exchange trading, gaining 26 cents, or 0.76 per cent, to close on $34.30.

There was also trade in shares of Bermuda Press (Holdings) Ltd for a second successive day, with the price remaining unchanged on $8 as 500 shares were exchanged, consolidating BPHL’s 25 per cent gain on Wednesday.

Ascendant Group Ltd also closed unchanged on $31 as 700 shares changed hands.

The Royal Gazette/BSX Index fell 20.95 points, or 0.94 per cent, to close on 2,200.06.

The BSX Insurance Index added 26.73 points, or 1.55 per cent, to close on 1,753.84.
