Butterfield slips on BSX, dives in New York

Shares of Butterfield Bank fell 0.4 per cent in Bermuda Stock Exchange trading.
The bank dipped ten cents on the trading of 700 shares to close on $26.80. Butterfield was the only stock to trade on the BSX.
Butterfield’s US-listed shares had a miserable day amid a broad-based crash on Wall Street, falling $3.98, or 15.49 per cent, to close on $21.72. Trading volume of 445,014 shares was more than double the recent average, according to data supplied by Yahoo Finance.
The Royal Gazette/BSX Index fell 4.5 points, or 0.24 per cent, to close on 1,897.51.
The BSX Insurance Index plummeted by 114.25 points, or 6.98 per cent, to end a dismal day on 1,522.52.
