A total of 2,500 shares of Ascendant Group Limited traded on The Royal Gazette/BSX Index. The shares improved 25 cents, or 0.8 per cent, to $30.25.

In New York, shares of Butterfield Bank were down three cents, or 0.14 per cent, at $21.83.

The Royal Gazette/BSX Index was up 2.41 points, or 0.15 per cent, at 1,653.79, while the BSX Insurance Index was down 5.8 points, or 0.51 per cent, at 1,128.13.

Separately, Butterfield Bank advised that during April it purchased for treasury 525,000 of its common shares at an average price of $18.33 per share.
