Butterfield shares edge lower in New York
The Royal Gazette/BSX Index closed unchanged on 1,806.93 as no shares traded on the Bermuda Stock Exchange.
The BSX Insurance Index fell 10.55 points, or 0.78 per cent, to 1,350.5.
Butterfield Bank’s US-listed shares fell 23 cents, or 0.93 per cent, to close at $24.46 on the New York Stock Exchange, as an above-average 499,848 shares changed hands.
For the week, the index fell 1.69 per cent, as shares of Butterfield fell 2.7 per cent and Somers dipped 3.4 per cent.
Due to the approach and potential impact of Hurricane Teddy, the BSX and the market will be closed on Monday.
The BSX anticipates that it will reopen for normal operations next Tuesday, provided it is safe to do so.
Reopening will be in line with EMO recommendations. Updates will be issued by press release and on the BSX website.
