Bank shares finished lower on the NYSE

The RG/BSX Index fell 13.13 (0.49 per cent) to 2,674.67 for the day, dragged down by Bank of N.T. Butterfield Ltd trading down 25 cents (0.6 per cent) and closing at $40 after 4,332 shares changed hands.
The other issue trading for the day was Bermuda Aviation Services Ltd, up a nickel (4.2 per cent) to $1.25 on a volume of 2,400.
In New York, Butterfield closed at $38.90, down 73 cents (1.80 per cent) on the New York Stock Exchange.
