BF&M shares spike 27.7% on BSX

BF&M Ltd’s share price rose 27.7 per cent on the Bermuda Stock Exchange today on the trading of 1,000 shares. The insurer soared $4.98 to close on $22.99.
The move, today’s only trade, caused The Royal Gazette/BSX Index to rise by 45.47 points, or 2.09 per cent to close on 2,218 points.
It was a positive end to a negative week for the index, which shed 117.85 points during the five days of trading, representing a 5.31 per cent dip.
Most of the decrease was attributable to a 9.1 per cent fall in Butterfield Bank’s stock price to $30. On the New York Stock Exchange yesterday, Butterfield gained 14 cents, or 0.48 per cent, to close the week on $29.16.
