Bermudians Shara Trott and Rickai Burrows are transitioning to full-time positions at Butterfield after successfully completing the bank’s graduate talent programme.

They celebrated on Tuesday by ringing the bell at the Bermuda Stock Exchange, a privilege usually reserved for new listings to the BSX.

“It was the perfect ending to an amazing 18-month programme, which has been both challenging and rewarding,” Ms Trott said.

Her highlights included time with the corporate banking team, where she joined client meetings and was able to gain an understanding of the book of business and the services offered.

She and Mr Burrows also visited Butterfield’s banking team in the Cayman Islands.

“I thank the whole team for the opportunity, and particularly my mentor, Jody Feldman, whose wisdom and guidance have been hugely beneficial to my professional development,” Ms Trott said. “I look forward to continuing my journey with Butterfield.”

Mr Burrows particularly enjoyed working with the compliance team.

“The nature of the work aligned with my interest and strengths in risk assessment and analytical thinking,” he said. “I would also like to specifically mention and thank my mentor, Shawnette Griffin, who gave me invaluable insight, both personally and professionally.”

The 2022 cohort, which includes two others in the Cayman Islands, has participated in real work placements across key business areas, specialised training and one-to-one mentorship sessions.
