The Royal Gazette/BSX Index closed 8.90 per cent higher
The RG BSX Index jumped 214.63 points (8.90 per cent) to 2,625.05 after 2,100 Butterfield shares changed hands, leaving the stock $4 or 11.8 per cent higher at $38 on the Bermuda Stock Exchange.
The only other stock trading was BF&M Ltd which closed a penny higher at $20.26 after 902 shares traded.
Butterfield finished at $37.98, or down 47 cents (1.22 per cent) on the New York Stock Exchange.
