Reporting to the hotel manager, I am responsible for the overall maintenance of the hotel grounds, which encompasses the fresh and saltwater pools, docks and gardens, the fitness centre and other recreation areas. It is my nature to accept challenges and my goal is to meet or exceed the very high standards of our guests as well as those held by Fairmont.What is your favourite part of the job? My favourite part of the job is working with an awesome team. Each day I look forward to working with colleagues who share the same passion as I do. They work hard, are dedicated to the mission of this hotel and, when I am away, continue to run the department smoothly and efficiently. We all get along remarkably well and I appreciate the talent, ideas and energy that they each contribute to the department. We are truly a family.What is your least favourite part of the job? Because I love the great outdoors and the fresh air, I don't look forward to long meetings. Part of my role is to keep updated on the overall administration; however, my greatest joy is working on the grounds and seeing a project completed. At The Fairmont Hamilton Princess, my input on the décor and overall look of the hotel grounds is welcomed. It gives me great pride to work on new projects that enhance the physical appearance of the hotel.What is your most interesting experience on the job? Having worked in this hotel for more than 40 years, I have had many wonderful experiences, including the chance to meet people from all walks of life and nationalities. I have had the good fortune to build relationships that will last a lifetime.What would you have done otherwise? If I wasn't working at The Fairmont Hamilton Princess, I would probably have my own landscaping business or be travelling around the world with my wife.
