Business Bermuda presents networking event prizes

Business Bermuda announced the winners from its 13th Annual College Student Networking Event (CSNE) at a ceremony held yesterday at the Fairmont Hamilton Princess. This year’s event was the most successful CSNE yet with more than 250 students and 300 local professionals in attendance. A total of 27 prizes were sponsored this year, and the impact of this event has been felt across Bermuda’s business community.Cheryl Packwood, CEO of Business Bermuda, said: “Every year, professionals find themselves impressed by the calibre of the students in attendance. This year, even professionals who participate every year took notice of how the students are working harder and doing more in pursuing a successful future.“This was an excellent group of students, and I wish we had more prizes to award as all of them deserve to win something for their hard work and dedication. I am optimistic about Bermuda’s youth and looking forward to next year’s event.”Business Bermuda’s chairman David Cash joined Ms Packwood in awarding the prizes.Held on the Regency Terrace of the Fairmont Hamilton Princess, the awards ceremony brought together students, professional representatives of sponsoring companies and organisations, as well as Business Bermuda’s Local Awareness Committee to acknowledge those who stood out from the rest.Temar Richardson, recipient of the Butterfield Bank Outstanding Student Award, said: “The CSNE 2011 was an excellent event. Having the opportunity to learn more about the business world and career opportunities was helpful. I found the information in the seminars interesting and the opportunity to talk first hand with professionals from a cross-section of businesses extremely beneficial. I am pleased to receive the Butterfield Outstanding Student Award. Thank you Business Bermuda for being a quality resource for Bermuda’s young people and for setting us up for success in the future.”Ms Packwood said: “Without the support of our member companies and other industry partners, there is no way that this event would continue to grow and be as successful as it is. I thank everyone for the support you have given us and will continue to give us as we continue to support the development of Bermuda’s next tier of professionals.“Congratulations to all of you students in what you have achieved, not only during the networking event, but also in all that you’ve achieved as you move towards the career of your choice. I look forward to having your involvement on the professional side of the event in a very short time.”
