For receivables, I ensure all bill payments collected are applied to the customers’ accounts correctly and for payables, I ensure all invoices are input into our accounting system then paid in a timely manner. Other duties performed include maintaining our calling card inventory, issuing purchase orders and assisting other departments when required.What is your favourite part?My favourite part of the job is investigating queries (smile). I like a challenge and with this task I am challenged at finding and resolving issues. It also allows me to better myself, seeing where I may have made mistakes and improve on my day-to-day tasks as well as my personal skill sets.What is your least favourite part?My least favourite part, of course (with a laugh), is filing paperwork.What is your most interesting experience at work?Being in the Finance Department you don’t get too many interesting experiences (laugh), however, I do remember working the day after BELCO’s fire which caused an island-wide power outage. I came into work to manually process our customer’s credit cards for bill payments. It was hot and very uncomfortable, as you can imagine, due to lack of air conditioning in the building.What would you be doing otherwise?If I wasn’t working in finance, I would be in marketing or event planning (I am member of our Social Committee).
