The course is one of three in the lead up to Business Bermuda’s annual college networking event.

Business Bermuda kicked off the College Student Networking Evenings with the first seminar in their new summer series, ‘Resume Writing’.Students made their way to the Argus building last week where Kylah Allers, HR generalist at Expertise Limited, provided in-depth tips and tricks on improving the front line of job hunting, the resume.“The session went very well. The students were very attentive and eager — they listened actively, asked great questions, and demonstrated critical thinking in their responses to my questions,” said Ms Allers. “I could see that they wanted to gain as much as they could from the session. With such a keen interest to learn and grow, they are off to a great start for a bright future. I enjoyed the session with them, and I think they enjoyed it too.”This seminar was the first in a progression designed to prepare students for a professional networking event. The next two seminars including learning about interview techniques and networking skills.“Ms. Allers was engaging and insightful. The students asked pertinent questions, and she was able to relate to them on their level. I have even learned a few new things from her presentation,” stated Cheryl Packwood, CEO of Business Bermuda. “This was an excellent beginning to our College Student Networking Evenings. Resume writing is a life skill that is constantly being perfected as you grow professionally and move from job to job. Ms Allers provided the type of information that HR professionals usually charge quite large sums to provide, and I was very encouraged by how committed the students were to improving their skills. As each seminar builds on the last, I strongly encourage anyone who wasn’t able to make it to the first seminar to sign up immediately for the next one.”Students are encouraged to sign up as soon as possible as space is limited. There are still two opportunities to attend and receive an invitation to an exclusive networking reception on August 8, 2012:— Interview Techniques presented by Keith Smzierek and Melody Smith of Expertise Limited: Thursday, July 19, 2012, 5:30-7pm.— Networking Skills presented by Jenny Smatt Adkins of Ontru Limited Wednesday, July 25, 2012, 5:30-7pm.For more information and to register for the seminars, please visit www.csne.bm, e-mail csne@businessbermuda.org, or call Carmen at 292-0632.
