A team of Bermuda boxers are heading overseas to compete in Ontario this weekend

The Bermuda Boxing Federation youth programme are sending a team of fighters to compete in Scarborough, Canada, in the Olympic-Style boxing event tomorrow.

Carlita Trott, Otero Smith, DaMeko Francis-Dill, Kahlil Smythe and Adrian Roach will be accompanied by Jermal Woolridge, the national team coach, and Jennifer Woods, the team manager.

The event will be hosted by Gideon Boxing Academy.

Nathan Dill, the BBF president, said: “Our executive team made the collective decision to shift our focus to growing the youth and supporting this team to take advantage of this experience is exactly the type of opportunities we have set out to create. I would like to wish them the best of luck this weekend.”

The event takes place just days after the BBF announced its upcoming event “Return Fight Night”, set to take place at the Fairmont Southampton on November 23.

Melissa Looby, the BBF programme and event manager, said: “Seeing the objectives set out in the BBF strategic plan come to life is always a great feeling and we would like to thank our numerous partners, sponsors and supporters for consistently matching our efforts.

“We would like to give a special thank you to trip sponsors Quality Transport, Country Kitchen and the Ministry of Sports for jumping on board.”

Controversy Gym boxers Robert Somner and George Cook will also be fighting in amateur bouts at the Gideon Boxing Academy.
