Roach improves record with overseas win
Adrian Roach and Lovintz Tota both earned victories for the island on the “Canada v Bermuda” amateur card in Scarborough, Ontario, at the weekend.
Roach improved his record to four victories from five bouts after being awarded a unanimous decision, while Tota won via a third-round knockout to make it two wins from two.
Also joining Roach, a super-lightweight, and middleweight Tota in Scarborough were their Controversy Gym team-mates George Cook and Robert Somner.
Cook lost on a decision but his super-heavyweight contest was awarded the “Fight of the Night”, while Somner lost his middleweight bout on a decision.
Leo Richardson, the Controversy Gym head coach, travelled with the team.
Meanwhile, the Bermuda Boxing Federation also sent a young team, accompanied by coach Jermal Woolridge, to gain experience in Scarborough.
Carlita Trott, Otero Smith, DaMeko Francis-Dill, Kahlil Smythe joined Roach, who also represents the BBF, at the event hosted by Gideon Boxing Academy.
