Jamaican Gregory Miller confident of beating local boxer Michael Parsons
Jamaican boxer Gregory Miller says he is expecting “easy work” when he takes on Bermuda’s Michael Parsons at The Shed, in Dockyard, on Saturday night.
The southpaw is scheduled to lock horns with Parsons in one of three professional bouts on the Epic Entertainment Fight Night Champion card, with the fight taking place at the catchweight of 160 after Miller was unable to make the original weight of 154.
Despite those weight issues, Miller does not consider his rival to be a threat and is not lacking in confidence or ambition.
“Parsons is a good fighter,” the 40-year-old told The Royal Gazette. “I don't take boxers for granted, but he's no track for me. Saturday will be easy work and I am already thinking about who next.”
Miller comes in the bout boasting a professional record of one win and four losses, while Parsons is chasing maiden win at this level after suffering a unanimous points defeat to Daniel Roach on his professional debut at the Fairmont Southampton in January 2020.
“My preparation is going great so far and I am more than confident going into this fight based upon my last fight,” said Miller, who resides in Ontario, Canada. He beat Drake Olchowecki by a technical knockout in his previous fight in that city last month.
Saturday’s fight card will be headlined by the welterweight clash between Bermuda’s Nikki Bascome and Cody Kelley, while local professional Andre Lambe gets his shot at the American Boxing Federation welterweight title.
Tickets for the seated section for Saturday’s event have already been sold out but tickets for the standing area are still available and can be purchased at ptix.bm.
The eagerly-anticipated event will also be available to watch on pay-per-view on channel82.bm.
“Those are the available options as we are sold out,” promoter Teiko Furbert said.
“The stand-up section is still available to accommodate the capacity of the island and channel82 is the next best option to watch it in the comfort of your own home.”
