This 2024-25 Budget was passed by senators last night with no objections.

The passing of the Appropriation Act 2024, read by Arianna Hodgson, the Junior Minister of Finance, signalled the end of weeks of parliamentary sessions, during which MPs from both sides discussed how government funding will be distributed in the next fiscal year.

The Estimates of Revenue and Expenditure for the Year 2024-25 ended with a three-hour debate on the Ministry of Transport.

The Government has pledged it is confident that the 2024-25 Budget could deliver Bermuda’s first balanced budget in two decades, even with the slim margin of $210,000 forecast for surplus in the coming fiscal year.

At a press conference in the wake of the Budget Statement in February, David Burt described the Budget as a “milestone budget” for the island, with the Government no longer having to borrow.
