The woman who knows more about your brain than you do, and may be able to make it work better, is Samantha Scott-O'Bannon, the clinical neuropsychologist who recently opened a new office in the City.

Dr Scott-O'Bannon was the first local in the field when she brought her talents back home some years ago, and her knowledge has been helpful to many, including those struggling in school, work or life.

She has opened a new centre in Hamilton, Mindset Neuropsychological Assessment and Treatment.

Mindset’s website describes neuropsychology as “ … the relationship between your brain and your behaviour”.

In an earlier interview in The Royal Gazette last year, Dr O’Bannon highlighted the benefits of neuropsychology for concussion or brain injury victims, citing Bermuda’s “high rate of motor vehicle accidents” and “really big sports community”.

However, she maintains that “literally anybody” can benefit from neuropsychology.

The former Bermuda Institute student has trained at top schools in the United States before working in Los Angeles as a clinical neuropsychologist with a focus on paediatric and adult populations. She specialised in brain and behaviour relationships, helping families and individuals determine the impact of brain injury or neurological and/or neurodevelopmental strengths and weaknesses on ones daily life.

Dr O’Bannon returned to Bermuda during the pandemic, opening the Mindset business in 2022.

Her aim is to “provide comprehensive neuropsychological evaluations and evidence-based treatments to individuals of all ages, including comprehensive neuropsychological evaluations, psychoeducational assessments, adult performance assessments, brief screenings and developmental assessments.”
