The Bermuda Monetary Authority’s Second Annual Community Day featured staff support of Keep Bermuda Beautiful in a clean up of Shelly Bay Beach, Somerset Long Bay, Ferry Reach, St George’s, John Smiths Bay and 9 Beaches.

The BMA launched the annual community day event last year as part of a commitment to assisting non-profits, with a day dedicated to giving back.

Craig Swan, the authority’s chief executive officer, said the event was a success: “The day saw over 186 employees step up to make a lasting, beneficial impact on the island’s coastal environment.

“This employee-driven event aligns with our environmental, social and governance strategy to both further incorporate sustainability into our operations and positively affect biodiversity.”

KBB is one of Bermuda’s longest standing environmental charities, encouraging greater responsibility and accountability to reduce waste and eliminate litter through action and education.

KBB’s executive director, Traci Burgess, said: “KBB is delighted to be working with the BMA team again this year and supporting their ESG initiatives.

“We appreciate the BMA's commitment to giving back to the community and extend special thanks for their support of KBB's mission to reduce waste, eliminate litter and beautify the island.

”Individual actions to care for the environment lead to a greater collective impact, which will result in a cleaner, greener and more beautiful Bermuda for all.“

Mesheiah Crockwell, BMA director of human resources, added: “I want to thank KBB for partnering with us again this year, and I applaud our staff for generously donating their time beautifying Bermuda’s beaches and open spaces.”
