Sign on for Lionfish adventure
“Eat ‘em to Beat ‘em” is the advice being given to us to deal with the pesky and destructive Lionfish which have invaded our reefs and are harming the ecosystem. Dust off your spears as the Groundswell Lionfish Tournament will once again be raising awareness while offering family-friendly fun on Saturday, July 19th. Participants in the tournament can start their culling as early as sun up and all boats will have to be at the BIOS dock for the weigh in at 3pm. From 2.30pm, all are invited to party-with-a-purpose at the Bermuda Institute of Ocean Sciences (BIOS), to enjoy a family-friendly afternoon of live music, DJs, lionfish tasting, a Gosling’s bar, lionfish handling/cleaning demo, a bouncy castle, information kiosks, and more, until 7.30pm. Entry to the party is free but the tournament entry costs $25. Those interested in signing up for the tournament can download the application at www.reefspect.com and deliver it with $25 entry fee to Marine Locker.
