Driving ban for woman after crash

A 30-year-old woman has been fined and banned from the roads for driving while more than two-and-a-half times the legal alcohol limit.

Jebrie Hill pleaded guilty to the offence, which happened in Paget on November 30 last year, at a Magistrates’ Court appearance last week.

The court heard that Hill was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital after she crashed her bike into a wall on South Road. Officers who spoke to the defendant noticed that her eyes were bloodshot

and her breath smelled of alcohol.

She was arrested on suspicion of driving while impaired and taken to Hamilton police station.

A breath test showed that she had 214 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood.

In court, Hill apologised for her actions.

Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo fined her $1,500 and banned her from the roads for 18 months.
