Police officer injured in crash

A police officer was injured this evening after his police van crashed into a pillar.
A police spokesman said the driver’s injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.
Police and other emergency services attended the incident on the Middle Road, Upland Street area in Devonshire.
The crash happened about 4.30pm. The officer is being medically assessed at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital but was said to be “conscious and alert”.
Traffic diversions were in force while the crash scene was examined but the road is now open.
Police said a probe into the cause of the accident is underway and appealed for witnesses.
