A 19-year-old Sandys man, injured yesterday morning in a crash by Elbow Beach, has been airlifted for treatment overseas, according to police.

He was a pillion passenger on a motorcycle that collided with a car at around 10am on South Shore, Paget.

A police spokesman said he had initially been admitted to the Intensive Care Unit at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital.

The driver of the bike, a 49-year-old Sandys woman with serious leg and foot injuries, is recovering on hospital on a general ward.

The driver of the car remained at the scene of the crash and was not arrested, but both vehicles were impounded for investigation.
