Fourteen arrested for impaired driving
Fourteen people were arrested for impaired driving over the weekend, including two who were involved in crashes.
A 59-year-old driver was arrested after his car collided with an 18-year-old motorcyclist on South Road, Warwick, on Friday, at about 10.15pm.
The teenager, from Southampton, was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital with serious injuries.
A 33-year-old car driver from Pembroke was arrested after she crashed with another car on North Shore Road, near Jennings Road, Smith’s, on Saturday at 9.20pm. She was taken to hospital and treated.
Eight people were arrested on suspicion of impaired driving at road sobriety checkpoints on Friday night, and three more on Saturday night. Another person was arrested for having care and control of a vehicle while under the influence on Friday night.
Officers at checkpoints in Devonshire, Pembroke and Paget also made three arrests for warrants and ticketed several drivers for unlicensed vehicles.
