Women charged with conspiring to import cannabis

Desiree Burrows, 21, pleaded not guilty to importing cannabis resin when she appeared in Magistrates' Court

Two women were yesterday charged with conspiring to bring drugs to the Island.Shaniqwa O'Brien, 21, and Desiree Burrows, 22, were charged with conspiring to import cannabis resin on January 8 and another date unknown.Both women were also charged with possession of cannabis resin with the intent to supply in St George's on January 8. They both pleaded not guilty to the charges. Larry Scott represents them.The amount of drugs and the monetary figure were not read out in court.Magistrate Archibald Warner granted them $10,000 bail each, and ordered them to return to court on February 15. Six women have been charged with conspiring to bring drugs to the Island this year.Two have pleaded guilty.
