A 27-year-old caught driving while drunk twice within a matter of weeks, was fined $2,250 in Magistrates’ Court yesterday.Randall Hall, of Pembroke, threw a shoe at an officer and damaged a police station cell after his arrest on February 8.Yesterday he received a suspended sentence and was banned from driving for 12 months because of the offence.Crown counsel Takiyah Burgess said police stopped the Cox’s Hill Road resident as he drove his motorcycle on Southside Road, St George’s at 9.43pm.The officers noticed Hall was weaving and his indicator lights were flashing.They asked to see his licence and noticed he smelled of alcohol and slurred his words.He told them: “I’ve just left the club, and I’ve had a few.”Hall became aggressive and verbally abusive after he was arrested and taken to Southside Police Station.While removing his clothes for a search, he threw his shoe at a police sergeant and had to be subdued.Presented with a breathalyser test, he said: “F***k that.”Hall was jailed but had to move cells after he clogged the toilet in his first one with paper, and flooded the area.He beat the door of the second cell and threw cups of water.Yesterday Hall pleaded guilty to impaired driving, assault and willful damage.He admitted to having a drinking problem and told Mr Wolffe: “I just started a job last week, the guys took me out to celebrate. I overindulged. I’d given my bike to my brother and I had no way out of St George’s. So I got caught for drunk driving again.”He had been disqualified for drunk driving on January 7.Mr Wolffe said: “And less than two months later, you, more than anybody, should never have gotten back up on that bike.”The magistrate fined Hall $750 for driving while disqualified, $1,000 for driving while impaired, and $500 for causing damage at the police station.He also got a three-month sentence for assaulting police, suspended for 12 months.
