Shoplifter took cupboard handles

A 53-year-old Pembroke man admitted in Magistrates’ Court that a “spur of the moment” decision to shoplift had been a mistake.Willis Ming, of St John’s Hill, was arrested on December 11 after leaving Gorham’s Ltd with $159 worth of cupboard handles in his trousers.Ming told police he took them because he had similar handles in his house and wanted the ones from the store.Duty counsel Leo Mills told Magistrate Juan Wolffe it had been a crime of opportunity committed while intoxicated. Ming was given 12 months’ conditional discharge.
