Driving bans and fines for four impaired drivers
Four men who admitted in Magistrates’ Court to driving while impaired have been banned from the roads.Crown counsel Takiyah Burgess told the court that Darren Edwards, 44, of Beulah Lane, Sandys, was stopped by police on Crow Lane at 12.20am, on March 12.Seen to be driving erratically on his motorcycle, Edwards was breath analysed, and found to have 209 milligrams of alcohol per 100 millilitres of blood. The legal limit is 80 milligrams.The court also heard that on March 4, at 2.50am, police on mobile patrol followed D’Whyte Lindsey from Front Street, when his motorcycle was seen to be swerving.After being pulled over, 19-year-old Lindsey, of Rocklands Road, Warwick, agreed to a breath test. It showed 135 milligrams of alcohol per 100 millilitres of blood.Kenyetta Tyrell, 32, of Fenton Drive, Pembroke, was stopped by police at 4.10am on March 3 on South Road, Devonshire, where police were checking motorists. Tyrell, travelling east in a grey BMW car, was arrested after police noticed a smell of alcohol on his breath.A breath test showed 117 milligrams of alcohol per 100 millilitres of blood.Jermaine Willis, 30, of Princeton Lane, Warwick, was seen swerving from left to right while driving a motorcycle on Trimingham Hill Road at 3.15am, on March 5. Police on mobile patrol followed him to South Road, in Paget.Pulled over, Willis admitted to having had a drink, and was arrested when officers noticed a scent of alcohol on his breath.Willis refused to provide a breath sample at Hamilton Police Station, and on March 7 was charged with impaired driving.Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner fined each man $1,000, and disqualified each from driving for 12 months.
