Man imprisoned for stealing male stimulants

A 42-year-old Warwick man was yesterday jailed for stealing male stimulants from a Hamilton drug store.Glenn Burgess, of Tribe Road One, admitted stealing a box of the stimulants from the Phoenix Store. He told police that he’d intended to sell the $24.95 supplements to purchase alcohol.Phoenix staff observed Burgess in the store around 3.20pm on Tuesday.He took two boxes of the stimulants. He put one into his pocket and returned the second to a display stand. Challenged outside when he left without paying, Burgess agreed to follow an employee back into the store for a talk with the manager.Police were called after Burgess tried to drop the evidence.Burgess appeared intoxicated at the time. He said to the arresting officer: “Do what you have to do, sister.”Burgess was under probation for a May 2010 theft at the time. Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner yesterday sentenced him to 30 days’ imprisonment.
