Eugene Darrell, better known as Jinx on the streets of Hamilton, has walked free after being charged with being drunk and incapable.Mr Darrell, 52, was arrested at about 1.30pm on Wednesday.Police reported finding him sprawled on a bench on Queen Street by the Reid Street junction, and then lying on the sidewalk.However, when Mr Darrell was brought into Magistrates’ Court, Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner said: “What do you want me to do with him?”The Crown requested that Mr Darrell be remanded into custody for assessment. Mr Warner responded: “Does he need assessing? What happens next?”Saying he would not imprison Mr Darrell and that there were other ways of dealing with him, Mr Warner granted an absolute discharge and freed him.
