Woman is warned after kicking police officer
A 28-year-old woman who kicked a police officer in the groin was given a conditional discharge in Magistrates’ Court.Teresha Wolffe, of Cedar Park Road, Devonshire, said she was drunk at the time.Wolffe told the court: “I did apologise to the officer. I was intoxicated at the time, but I accept full responsibility for my actions.”Crown counsel Nicole Smith said police were called to Pain Lane West, St George’s around 4.28am on April 22.The officers arrived to find Wolffe in an altercation with a man outside his residence.They noticed bruises on her face, neck and shoulders, which Wolffe told them she had received in a fall.The court heard that police took Wolffe to the hospital for medical attention. Wolffe refused treatment but appeared to be in severe pain.Police noticed her using a cellular phone and began questioning her Wolffe had said earlier that her own phone was not working.Meanwhile, a phone had been reported as missing from the home on Pain Lane West.Wolffe tried to hide the phone from the officers and then kicked one of them in the groin.Police retrieved the phone, and Wolffe was taken from the hospital to Southside Police Station.Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner noted that Wolffe had been given a conditional discharge after being arrested following an altercation in 2007.He warned her to avoid getting into arguments, and gave her a conditional discharge of 12 months.
