Employee stole cash from shop where she worked

Stealing nearly $1,000 from her boss landed a 22-year-old Hamilton Parish woman in Magistrates’ Court.Aeisha Renee Place, of Winton Hill Lane, admitted the April 25 theft from Daisy and Mac, saying she had spent the money on her daughter’s nursery.The court heard from Crown counsel Takiyah Burgess that at 5pm on April 23, a fellow employee at the Daisy and Mac store, on Queen Street, had secured an envelope containing $913 inside a cabinet on the store premises.On April 28, the envelope was found torn open and its contents missing.Store owner Dawn Zuill called police after checking CCTV footage, which showed Place removing the money on April 25.After police viewed the tape, Place was arrested and subsequently admitted taking the money.She told Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner: “I’ve paid the money back. I just need another $250.”Mr Warner ordered a social inquiry report and told Place to return to court on June 30. She was granted bail of $2,000.
