Pair deny theft charges
Two brothers last week denied stealing thousands of dollars worth of belongings in raids on homes.Neko Cann, 35, of Horseshoe Road, Southampton, and Malik Cann, 22, of Berkeley Road, Pembroke, appeared in Magistrates’ Court under a series of charges.The pair were accused of stealing jewellery, a wallet, handbag and foreign money, with a total value of $2,300, after breaking into a property in Warwick on June 17. They were further charged with stealing two cameras, valued at $1,800, from another home in Warwick on the same day.And they faced a third charge of being in possession of gloves and a screwdriver used for burglary, after being stopped by police in Paget shortly afterwards. The brothers pleaded not guilty to all three charges.Neko Cann was also charged with stealing earrings, an X-Box, two cell phones and laptops, with a total value of $1,700, on May 27.He was further charged with three counts of receiving stolen goods: a laptop worth $500 on May 28, a laptop and PlayStation worth $2,100 on May 27, and a laptop worth $1,500 on May 28.He denied all charges. The case was adjourned to September 30; Neko Cann was remanded into custody although Malik Cann was given $5,000 bail with one surety.
