Woman stole $8,499 in dollar coins from washing machines

A 30-year-old Sandys woman has admitted stealing $8,499 from coin-operated washing machines.Magistrates’ Court heard that Stephanie Allison Lynam, of Cedarcraft Lane, had been short of money to support herself and her children.Lynam was employed by realtors Raphael Limited, which manages an apartment complex on Woodbourne Avenue, Pembroke.The court heard that between January 1 and April 25, Lynam took the money in $1 coins, and had been struggling to repay her employers after the shortfall was discovered.Lynam admitted the offence to police after she was arrested on June 13.Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner ordered a social inquiry report, and granted her bail of $1,000. She will return for sentencing on July 26.
