Aggravated burglary charges against four men are dropped
Charges have been dropped against four men accused of a home invasion in Warwick during last year’s Cup Match holiday.Kentwoine Jones, Donahue Sousa and Aaron Liverpool, all aged 20 and Kyle Tavares, 24, were charged with committing aggravated burglary at Dunscombe Road on July 31 2010.The charge alleged that they stole two wallets containing a total of $1,200, and were in possession of a knife with cutting edge in excess of three inches and a ball attached to a length of rope.Prosecutor Kirsty-Ann Kiellor filed an application to drop the charges yesterday and Puisne Judge Carlisle Greaves discharged the men from the case. They had been on bail since being charged last August. The Royal Gazette was not present for yesterday’s court hearing, and Ms Kiellor could not be reached for further information.Mr Jones, from Ord Valley Lane, Warwick, was represented by lawyer Mark Pettingill, who said no reason was given for the move by the Crown.Mr Pettingill commented: “We came to court ready to go to a defended trial. My client maintained his innocence from the get-go. He’s suffered greatly over this and it has been holding him back.”The lawyers for Mr Tavares, of Fairylands, Pembroke and Mr Sousa, of Curving Avenue, Pembroke, were Charles Richardson and Ken Savoury respectively. They both declined to comment. Mr Liverpool, from West Lane, St George’s, was represented by Elizabeth Christopher, who did not return a call for comment.
