Pembroke man charged with cannabis importation
A 39-year-old Pembroke man has appeared in Magistrates’ Court accused of plotting to smuggle drugs into Bermuda.Kenneth Jamel Zuill, of Deepdale Road, was charged with conspiring to import cannabis into Bermuda, between a date unknown and October 21, 2010, with Mary Johnson, Michelle Gibbons and others not before the court.Mr Zuill, who is represented by lawyer Charles Richardson, was not required to enter a plea, since the charge is indictable only and must be heard at the Supreme Court.However, he pleaded not guilty to two counts of possession with intent to supply one of cocaine, and one of cannabis from September 19 in Devonshire. Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner granted Mr Zuill bail of $50,000, with two sureties, on the first matter, for which he must return to court on December 14.Mr Warner granted a like bail on the second matter, setting an October 12 court date. Mr Zuill must also report daily to Hamilton Police Station, and surrender his travel documents, as conditions of bail.
